Excavation Services in Ann Arbor, MI That Get the Job Done Right
You know that moment when you walk your property and realize the ground isn’t working with you? Maybe it’s water pooling where it shouldn’t be after every rain. Maybe you’ve got a build planned and the soil situation is… honestly, a mess. Or maybe you’ve been told by another contractor that your lot “needs work” before anything else can happen. That’s where we come in.
We’re JS Wrecking Co, and excavation is what we do. Not as a side service. Not as something we tacked onto a menu to look bigger than we are. This is the work our crew has done day in and day out for over 20 years. Digging, grading, trenching, shaping land so it actually does what it’s supposed to do. We’ve been at it long enough that when we pull up to a property in Ann Arbor, we can usually tell what’s going on before we even step off the truck.
What sets us apart from the bigger outfits? We’re family owned. We answer our own phones. And we don’t play games with pricing. When we give you a number, that’s the number. No weird add ons showing up on the final invoice. No “oh we didn’t account for that” halfway through the project. We’ve built this business on doing right by people, and honestly, that approach has worked out pretty well for us over the last two decades.
Whether it’s a homeowner in Burns Park who needs a backyard regraded before the spring thaw turns everything into a mud pit, or a developer near Eisenhower Parkway prepping a commercial lot for new construction, we bring the same energy to every job. The right machines, operators who actually know what they’re doing, and a timeline we stick to. Ann Arbor has its own quirks when it comes to soil and drainage and we’ve learned every single one of them the hard way, through years of working this ground.
If your project starts with dirt, it should start with a call to us.
What Our Excavation Services in Ann Arbor Actually Cover
People hear “excavation” and they think it’s just digging a hole. It’s not. There’s grading, trenching, site prep, drainage work, and about a dozen other things that have to happen before a project can move forward. Here’s what we handle.
Residential Excavation and Grading
If you’re adding onto your home, putting in a new driveway, or dealing with a yard that turns into a lake every April, this is where we start. We do foundation digs, lot grading, soil removal, and drainage corrections for homeowners all across Ann Arbor. From older properties near the Old West Side to newer builds out in Pittsfield Township, we’ve worked on just about every type of residential lot you can think of. And we’re careful with your property. We don’t tear through your yard, wreck your landscaping, and leave you with a bigger mess than you started with. That’s not how we operate.
Commercial Site Preparation
For contractors and developers, we provide full site prep services. Mass grading, cut and fill, utility trenching, stormwater management, all of it. We’ve handled commercial projects near Plymouth Road, along the South Industrial corridor, and in several other pockets around Washtenaw County. Our crew shows up with the right equipment and enough experience to keep things moving without a bunch of back and forth about what needs to happen next.
Trenching and Utility Work
Water lines, sewer hookups, electrical conduits, drainage systems. We dig clean, accurate trenches and we coordinate with local utility companies so nothing gets crossed up. It’s detailed work and we treat it that way.
Pond Excavation
For larger lots and rural properties outside the city center, we dig and reshape ponds. Whether it’s a new farm pond or a water feature on a residential estate, our operators know how to read terrain and build something that holds water the way it should.
Why Ann Arbor Trusts JS Wrecking Co With Their Excavation Projects
20 Years of Doing This the Right Way
We didn’t just start yesterday. The team behind JS Wrecking Co has been running heavy equipment, grading lots, and solving site problems for over two decades. That kind of time in the field teaches you things no manual ever could. We know what Ann Arbor soil looks like when it’s about to give you trouble. We know which neighborhoods have drainage issues that go back years. And we know how to handle it all without blowing up your budget or your timeline.
Family Owned and That Actually Means Something
When we say family owned, we’re not just slapping a label on the business to sound friendly. It means the person answering your call is the same person making decisions on your job site. There’s no corporate chain of command. No waiting three days for someone in another state to approve a change order. You deal with us directly, and we take that responsibility seriously. Every project we finish has our family name attached to it, and that keeps us honest.
Fair Pricing With No Surprises
We quote what we mean and we mean what we quote. Our estimates are detailed, transparent, and we walk you through every line item so you understand exactly what you’re paying for. We’ve heard too many stories from homeowners in Ann Arbor who got burned by vague bids that ballooned once the work started. That’s not us. We’d rather lose a job over being upfront than win one by being shady about costs.
