Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My dad hired JS Wrecking Co a while back, and he was very impressed with their work. He often mentioned how professional, dependable, and hardworking the crew was throughout the project. They showed up when they said they would, completed the job efficiently, and left him feeling confident that he had chosen the right company. Even though I wasn’t the customer myself, hearing how satisfied he was gives me no hesitation in recommending JS Wrecking Co to anyone looking for quality demolition services.

Our Story: Building Detroit and Southeastern Michigan's Future by Safely Removing Its Past

For more than two decades, JS Wrecking Co Detroit and Southeastern Michigan has been helping transform the Detroit and Southeastern Michigan landscape, careful, controlled demolition at a time. What started as a small operation with a single excavator and a determination to do demolition work the right way has grown into one of Metro Detroit’s most trusted names for commercial and residential demolition services.

How We Got Started in Demolition

JS Wrecking Co Detroit and Southeastern Michigan was founded by professionals who saw firsthand how many demolition contractors were cutting corners, leaving hazardous materials improperly handled, creating environmental risks, and failing to properly protect neighboring properties. We knew Detroit and Southeastern Michigan deserved better. Our founders came from construction backgrounds and understood that demolition isn’t just about tearing things down, it’s about strategic deconstruction that protects people, property, and the environment.

We started with residential garage and shed demolitions, earning trust one project at a time. Word spread quickly about our meticulous approach, proper permitting, and spotless job sites. Within three years, we were handling commercial building demolitions, industrial facility tear-downs, and complex projects requiring specialized equipment and environmental considerations.

Challenges That Made Us Stronger

Every demolition contractor in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan faces the same fundamental challenge: this city has decades of industrial history, which means countless properties with environmental concerns, asbestos, lead paint, and structural unknowns. Early in our history, we encountered a commercial building demolition where previous contractors had walked away after discovering unexpected underground fuel tanks. Instead of abandoning the project, we brought in environmental specialists, coordinated with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and safely completed the remediation and demolition. That project taught us that doing things right, even when it’s difficult, builds the reputation that lasts.

We’ve also learned hard lessons about Detroit and Southeastern Michigan’s strict permitting requirements and historic preservation considerations. We now work closely with the Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED) from day one on every project, ensuring full compliance and protecting our clients from costly delays or violations.

Why We're Passionate About This Work

Demolition work in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan is about more than just removing old structures. We’re helping make way for the city’s revitalization, new housing developments, commercial spaces, community centers, and green spaces that are transforming neighborhoods. Every building we safely demolish represents an opportunity for Detroit and Southeastern Michigan’s next chapter.

We take personal pride in being environmental stewards. Our systematic approach to hazardous material abatement, material recycling, and dust control means we’re not just removing buildings; we’re doing it in a way that protects the air our neighbors breathe, the soil our children play on, and the future our community deserves.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Most demolition contractors show up with heavy equipment and start swinging. We show up with a plan. Our pre-demolition process includes:

Comprehensive site assessments with structural engineers when needed
Environmental testing for asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials
Utility coordination to safely disconnect and cap all services
Neighbor notification because we believe in transparency
Material salvage planning to recycle and reclaim whenever possible
Detailed safety protocols that exceed OSHA requirements

We call it “strategic deconstruction,” and it’s why we complete projects safely, on time, and without surprises.
